Feeding Therapy for Babies & Children

Specialist support for children with swallowing difficulties, tube to oral feeding, and sensory-based or extreme fussy eating. These are real, complex difficulties that respond to the right support — and with the right help, things can change.

I believe every child has the right to reach their full potential — whether that's safely swallowing their own saliva, trying a food from a whole new food group, moving from tube to oral feeding, or simply sharing calm, connected mealtimes with the people they love.

Our Approach

Mealtimes are about connection, joy, and belonging — not just nutrition — and that philosophy shapes everything we do.

At Learn to Feed we are creative, evidence-informed, and always adjusted to the individual child — never one-size-fits-all. We work with the whole child, at their own pace, gently building their willingness to try new things and taking small, achievable steps towards their goals — always working around your family and everyday life.

We work with babies, toddlers, and school-age children. Sessions are available online or as home visits within roughly 40 minutes of Woking, Surrey, UK.

Savannah came and did a home visit to assess my little boy's oral development. She was welcoming, kind and encouraging — clearly very knowledgeable, and she shared it in a non-judgemental, thoughtful way. She gave us lots of ideas to support my son's feeding and followed up with an extensive report.

Feeding Therapy FAQs

What is paediatric dysphagia?
Dysphagia means difficulty with eating, drinking or swallowing. In children it can show up as coughing, choking or gagging during meals, wet or gurgly breathing after feeds, frequent chest infections, or difficulty managing saliva. As SLTs specialising in dysphagia, we assess how your child is swallowing and put safe, practical strategies in place — always working alongside your medical team where needed.
Can you help with tube feeding or tube weaning?
Yes. We support babies and children who are tube fed, including tube weaning — gradually and safely building oral eating skills to reduce reliance on the tube, always working closely with your medical team and your chosen dietician.
Can you help a child who struggles to manage their saliva?
Yes. Some children find it hard to manage their own oral secretions, which can affect comfort, skin and safety. We assess what's contributing and work on the oral skills and strategies to help your child manage their saliva more effectively.
What ages do you work with?
Babies, toddlers, and school-age children — including children with additional needs.
What's the difference between fussy eating and a feeding difficulty?
Many children go through fussy phases. A feeding difficulty is more persistent and impactful — refusing whole food groups, distress or panic around textures, gagging, or losing weight because of what a child won't eat. These respond well to specialist support.
What is the SOS Approach to Feeding?
The SOS (Sequential Oral Sensory) Approach is a whole-child, play-based framework that builds a child's relationship with food gradually, without pressure or force. It's one of the tools we draw on, particularly for sensory aversions and fussy eating. We always work at the child's pace, with parents closely involved.
Can you help with ARFID?
Yes. We support children with avoidant/restrictive food intake presentations using a gentle, whole-child approach, working closely with families and other professionals where needed.
Do you offer home visits?
Yes — sessions are available online or as home visits within roughly 40 minutes of Woking, Surrey, UK.
