How We See Families

Home visits

We visit families at home across Newcastle & Northumberland, so we can see your child in their everyday space and build strategies that fit your family.

Nursery & school visits

With your permission, we can visit your child's nursery or school to observe, support staff and make sure everyone is working towards the same goals.

Online sessions

Online sessions are available wherever you live, and fit easily around work, naps and school runs.

Working Alongside Your Local Team

Many children we support are already known to NHS teams, such as the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle, or Northumbria Healthcare's hospital and community services. Private feeding therapy can sit alongside that care, and with your consent we'll keep your child's other professionals updated.

From Tynemouth Longsands and Whitley Bay to Jesmond Dene and Plessey Woods, the North East has brilliant places for family picnics. Eating somewhere relaxed and outdoors can take the pressure off a child who finds food hard.

Feeding Therapy in Newcastle & Northumberland: FAQs

Is there a private feeding therapist in Newcastle & Northumberland who does home visits?
Yes. Learn to Feed offers private feeding therapy across Newcastle & Northumberland, including Blyth, Morpeth, Whitley Bay and Newcastle city centre, with home visits, nursery and school visits and online sessions, depending on therapist availability. Our therapists are HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapists specialising in feeding and swallowing. An initial assessment is £310 in person or £250 online. Get in touch to book.
Why does my child gag or vomit when they see or touch certain foods?
For some children, gagging at the sight, smell or touch of a food is a sensory response rather than a swallowing problem. Their system reads the food as a threat. Forcing or hiding foods usually makes this worse. We work out what's driving the response and build tolerance gradually through play and exposure, at your child's pace, so new foods feel safe before they're ever expected to eat them.
