We work as treating therapists in medicolegal cases involving paediatric feeding, swallowing and communication difficulties — providing specialist assessment, therapy, and clinical reports.

What We Offer

Initial feeding, swallowing and communication assessments for children in personal injury and clinical negligence cases
Initial assessment reports outlining our recommendations for therapy, and review reports as required by case managers
Ongoing feeding and communication therapy for children within funded case packages
Training for MDT members, schools and other professionals supporting the child
Liaison with case managers, MDT members, and other treating professionals

Cases We Support

We assess and support children whose feeding, swallowing or communication difficulties arise in a range of contexts, including:

Birth injury and hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE)
Paediatric dysphagia (swallowing difficulties) and aspiration
Prematurity and neonatal injury
Acquired brain injury
Cerebral palsy and neurological conditions
Tube feeding and tube weaning
Sensory-based feeding difficulties and ARFID
Communication and language difficulties, including AAC

How It Works

A clear, straightforward process from referral through to therapy.

Referral

Case managers or solicitors get in touch with a brief summary of the child's difficulties and the nature of the case.

Assessment

A specialist feeding, swallowing and/or communication assessment, carried out in person or remotely to suit the case.

Report

A clearly written initial assessment report setting out our findings and recommendations for therapy, with review reports as required.

Therapy

Ongoing feeding and communication therapy delivered within the child's funded case package.

Therapy is typically delivered within an Immediate Needs Assessment (INA) or other funded case package, so support can begin without waiting for settlement.

Medicolegal FAQs

Are you expert witnesses?
No. We work as treating therapists, not expert witnesses. Our role is to assess the child, provide therapy, and document that clinical work clearly and accurately for the case. We do not provide court reports or appear as expert witnesses.
Who can make a referral?
Case managers and solicitors can refer directly by email or phone. Please include a brief summary of the child's difficulties and the nature of the case, and we'll respond as soon as possible.
Do you work outside Surrey?
We're based in Surrey and don't work UK-wide at this stage, but we do travel to neighbouring counties — including Greater London, Hampshire, Berkshire, West Sussex, East Sussex and Kent. Please get in touch if you're not sure and we'll let you know. Assessments can also be conducted remotely depending on the requirements of the case.
What reports do you provide?
Initial assessment reports outlining our recommendations for therapy, and review reports as required by case managers — suitable for personal injury and clinical negligence cases.
What are your qualifications and insurance?
We are HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapists with full professional indemnity insurance. Some of our therapists hold specialist training in the SOS Approach to Feeding Therapy and SOFFI, and where a case involves both communication and dysphagia needs we work together as a team to provide a coordinated service.
