How We See Families

Home visits

We visit families at home across Newcastle & Northumberland, so we can see your child in their everyday space and build strategies that fit your family.

Nursery & school visits

With your permission, we can visit your child's nursery or school to observe, support staff and make sure everyone is working towards the same goals.

Online sessions

Online sessions are available wherever you live, and fit easily around work, naps and school runs.

Working Alongside Your Local Team

Your child may already be known to NHS speech and language therapy, a health visitor or their school's SENCo. Private therapy can work alongside that support, and with your consent we'll share reports and goals so everyone is pulling in the same direction.

We work where your child talks every day, at home, at nursery or in the classroom, so strategies fit real life and the adults around your child feel confident using them.

My 2-year-old isn't talking much yet. Should I wait and see?
Some children do catch up, but it's hard to know which ones. As a rough guide, by 2 most children use around 50 words and are starting to put two words together. If your child isn't, or understands less than you'd expect, an assessment can tell you whether they need support and give you practical strategies to help now, rather than waiting.
Can you support my child while we wait for an autism assessment?
Yes. Waiting lists for autism assessments can be long, and you don't need a diagnosis to get help with communication. We can assess your child's communication now, give you practical strategies, and share our report with the diagnostic team and your child's nursery or school if you'd like us to.
How do you support autistic children's communication?
We focus on connection and understanding rather than drilling skills or trying to make children appear less autistic. Every way of communicating counts, from speech and gesture to signing, AAC and gestalt language. We share practical strategies with you and your child's nursery or school, so everyone is working together.
